Big Road was formed in 2000 by Mats Brandemark and Gunnar Hofverberg, who have written songs together for over 15 years. Their original material stems from the American rock, folk and country tradition, which has always been a big inspiration to the two songwriters.

After some years of successful live performances, the band started studio recordings in May 2005. Their first single record (She Flies/Memory Lane) was released in September 2005.

The first Big Road album “Refugees In The Promised Land”, released in October 2006, is produced by well-known Swedish producer/songwriter Peter R Ericson. It features guest musicians Kjell Gustavsson (drums), Jesper Lindberg (pedal steel guitar) and Janne Pettersson (accordeon). There is also a duet with singer/songwriter Linda Malmström.
